- Take photos of all cars. You should immediately check yourself and others for injuries. In addition, seeking medical attention as soon as possible, even if you don’t feel hurt. If you are able, take pictures of all the cars involved, including your own.
- Take photos of the accident scene. In addition to photographing the cars, take several pictures, even video, of the scene and surrounding area. Your goal is to document as much as you can with photos because these will be very helpful later.
- Take photos of the other person’s driver’s license & insurance information. You should refrain from conversation with the other driver, but do ask for his or her driver’s license and take a picture of it, as well. It’s a good idea to photograph the front and back of the driver’s license to ensure its validity. Additionally, while you’re taking a picture of his or her driver’s license, also take pictures of his or her insurance card, front and back
- Document everything that happened with voice and written notes. Finally, you should document your own recollection of what just happened. Create a voice note or a written note on your cell phone. But, do not admit fault or say that you are not injured.
