One of the stars of the popular sitcom Big Bang Theory told reporters this week that her hand injury from a 2012 car accident still affects her every day. Mayim Bialik said that she sustained significant injuries during the car crash but is grateful that they were not worse. She says that she is not yet pain-free and that she will continue to recover.
The incident is in the news again this week since the actress filed a lawsuit against the other driver involved in the car accident and a rental car company that owned one of the vehicles involved.
In cases like this one where an injury causes long-term damage that takes significant time to recover from, the responsible party or parties may be liable for any partial disability or loss of functionality that results from the injury. In this case Ms. Bialik said that her typing was impaired for a period of time after the injury, which is an injury that could have a big impact on someone who earns their living working on a computer or with their hands in another capacity.
