An accident involving two big-rig trucks and a minivan resulted in a child being killed and a number of other individuals being injured. The accident occurred on a freeway in Santa Monica at around 12:35 p.m. on June 6.
The accident occurred at the McClure Tunnel on the westbound 10 Freeway. There were nine individuals injured overall. Two children were taken to the hospital and listed in critical injury. Six others were said to have suffered moderate injuries as a result of the crash.
One of the big rigs was resting upright in the tunnel so it took a considerable amount of time to clear the wreckage. The freeway was not reopened until close to 7:00 p.m. There were also close to 100 vehicles that were stuck between the two trucks that crashed and Lincoln Boulevard. Los Angeles firefighters were also summoned to the scene to help out the Santa Monica Fire Department.
There may be a number of reasons why truck accidents occur such as driver negligence or improper maintenance of the truck. In certain instances there may be a combination of factors. In any circumstance, attorneys bringing a lawsuit against a trucker or a trucking company will need all of the resources to discover what did happen.
We can’t be sure as of yet how this accident came about. The cause of such a crash will obviously have to be investigated. Accidents involving big rig trucks generally are responsible for a much greater degree of devastation than are other motor vehicle accidents and that’s one reason why discovering the cause of a truck accident is so important.
