Just north of Los Angeles, a motorcyclist nearly got into an accident with another motorcyclist. Now, we know that’s not exactly the most thrilling bit of a news. In fact, you may not even consider it news at all. However, there is one element involved in this near-head-on crash that caught our eye — and it will certainly catch the eye of the motorcycle community.
Here’s what happened: one of the motorcyclists was riding properly in his lane as he drove through the mountains on a seemingly open road. But another motorcyclist coming from the other direction swerved into the lane of the first motorcyclist, causing the man to swerve to avoid the crash. The first motorcyclist eventually spilled over on the side of the road, suffering some injuries. The negligent motorcyclist that was driving on the wrong side of the road fled the scene.
You may think that the reckless motorcyclist got away with his irresponsible actions — but he was caught on camera by the first motorcyclist, who was wearing a video camera during his ride.
This is the factor that caught our eye. Using a video camera during a motorcycle ride — or a bike ride, for that matter — could prove hugely beneficial for those out on the road on these vehicles. The camera could catch vital pieces of video evidence that an accident victim could then use to substantiate his or her claims. The use of personal video cameras during motorcycle or bike rides is a smart and novel idea that could help people on these vehicles earn the justice they deserve in civil court.
