Two female pedestrian were struck by a car on June 1 while in a church parking lot. One of the women died at the scene while the other suffered from broken legs. The latter woman was said to be a parishioner at the church.
The accident occurred in Port Hueneme, California at about 12:30 p.m. The car that struck the women then crashed through a brick wall. It is believed that the driver mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal which may explain the amount of devastation that occurred.
Personnel from Oxnard Fire Department and at least three ambulances were sent to the accident scene. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital, but her condition was not reported. The driver will be cited for reckless driving, however, according to police.
As bad as the accident was, it could very easily have been more catastrophic. One witness said there were children nearby at the time the accident occurred. A photo of the accident scene also shows the devastation from the accident and the hole in the wall that appears to have come about due to the accident.
Personal injury damages are available for individuals injured in car accidents due to the negligence of others. Compensation is often badly needed. Injuries can be life-threatening and permanent in nature. These accidents often occur at a moment’s notice and can happen even in a church parking lot where one would not expect such an incident to occur.
Personal injury attorneys can assist such victims in making certain that care is received and paid for. Attorneys can also make certain that all negligent parties are held accountable so that all expenses are covered. Attorneys try to make it possible for individuals to go on with their lives.
