Irvine, California – Southern California based personal injury law firm Vititoe Law Group is excited to announce that the application process is underway for the bi-annual James W. Vititoe award, a scholarship that will be given in conjunction with our Irvine office to a high school student or junior college attendee who excels academically and demonstrates outstanding leadership potential.
This will be the third such scholarship awarded by Vititoe Law Group, which was previously won by Jacqueline White and Joseph W. Cook, both outstanding young adults who have set themselves apart both academically and as leaders in their respective communities.
James W. Vititoe Award Candidate Criteria
We take great pride in our work and believe it is important to invest in the education of students throughout our community, particularly those who are committed to civic work, both now and in their future careers.
The 2016 James W. Vititoe application is being made available to students (both high school and junior college) who are attending school in Orange County, CA.
To be eligible for this $1,000 scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be attending school in Orange County, CA
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Be entering freshman year in college in 2017 or currently be attending a junior college
- Plan to declare a major in any field of study
- Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency
Along with information about their GPA and extra-curricular activities, applicants are being asked to write a story, essay, poem, etc. of a minimum of 500 words explaining the benefits of civic work and investing your time and resources into your community. Students are also being asked to describe their community involvement and their goals for continuing service into the future.
Entries will be judged by a third party on the basis of creativity, content, originality, clarity and punctuation/grammar. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winner on December 15, 2016.
